The fat customer is always wrong

thisisthinprivilege:

Thin privilege is when bad service means bad service, full stop. Fat discrimination is when bad service is justified by the customer’s fatness, that is, the assumption that a fat customer shouldn’t expect good service because they’re fat.

The typical lies that accompany this particular thin privilege: Weight is Controllable, If We Think You Can Conform You Must, Fixed Width Limitations = Fixed Service Limitations, Fat Price Inflation.

Examples:

“Charging fat passengers more/kicking them off flights isn’t discrimination, because they could just lose weight!”

“I gave the fat lady skim instead of whole milk, even though she asked for whole. She should thank me instead of complaining to my manager!”

“No, we don’t go over 3X. But we find our sizes include many larger people, and people who are 4X and above should just lose weight if they want to wear smaller plus sizes.”
